You know that feeling of shocking excitement because you had no idea you’d encounter what’s right in front of you and you just can’t help yourself but give in to it?

Well, that’s the feeling I had when I was casually strolling the streets of Amsterdam when I saw the Urban Decay stand behind the window of a shop.

What?! Why didn’t anyone tell me Urban Decay finally made its way to the Netherlands?!

There, in front of me, rows and rows of VICE lipstick and beautiful Naked palettes right there at the window.

I went in like a child would into a candy shop and stared at the collection of makeup. I was so excited, yet a little sad because I didn’t set out on spending too much.. I was already on a budget because classes were starting soon (and that means spending money on books!).

I went through the lipsticks on the stand and my eye instantly fell on this gem! The nice lady attending me even put it on my lips to see what it looked like. When I looked into the mirror I fell in love!

Ladies and gentlemen, my new favourite lipstick: Hitch Hike.

Not only the packaging of the product itself is attractive and eye-catching but so is the box around it. Definitely one that has effort put in and looks elegant and chic yet creative with that pop of colour!

The packaging of the product itself is a metallic purple-greyish colour. The cap goes on all the way rather than halfway like most lipsticks. It feels cool to the touch and I seriously love it if you couldn’t already tell..

The label of the lipstick is at the bottom in the form of a sticker, which shows a rough indication of the colour of the lipstick.

The packaging is so sleek and downright feels luxurious. I definitely prefer this packaging over the bullet form of MAC lipsticks.

Hitch hike is a soft matte lipstick. It’s a warm tone of red with hints of peach and pink. It’s a perfect everyday colour. It’s definitely a red, however, a very soft red that can easily be worn on a daily basis (which is what I’ve been doing!).

Here’s a cute little swatch for you guys so you have a rough idea of what it looks like. On my skin tone it really doesn’t come off as bright but rather a kind of nude red.

However, if you decide you want a more striking red, you can always apply a few layers and it definitely stands out.

As you can see in the pictures below, the colour is quite soft and not striking at all. Perfect sort of red-nude, you could say! It’s not a totally matte lipstick but rather a “soft” matte, as the packaging states.

It applies really smoothly to the lips rather than those lipsticks that sometimes tug at your lips while you apply. It’s texture is creamier than any other matte lipstick I’ve tried and it’s definitely not drying but I think rather moisturizing.

Best part about all this is that it’s cruelty free! I can’t be anymore happier with this lipstick.

I think this one was worth it at a price of 19.50 euros!

Since it’s my current favourite and I literally have nothing to complain about, I give this lipstick a 5/5! It’s my first UD lipstick and I hope there’s more to come!

Have you tried any of the VICE lipsticks? What kind of lipstick do you usually go for?
I’d love to know in the comments!

Smile because wearing red doesn’t have to be an occasional thing!
