My Summer TBR

As you may have read in my previous post, I was ready to get out of here and go on an adventure through Europe!

Although I associate the summer holidays with travel, I also am a firm believer of me-time, which the summer holidays are virtually made for.

Me-time includes books, books, and more BOOKS. 

Throughout the year I’m surrounded by academic articles. I don’t get to read nearly as much as I’d like.

So I try to read as much as I possibly can during the summer holidays.

That brings me to today’s post: my Summer TBR

Whilst writing this post, I remember all these other books I still want to read… but for now, we’ll stick to these! It’s only 6 books.. let’s get through these first!

I think literally all these books are second hand… some I bought from a bookshop and others I got for free! Don’t you just love when someone else gives away a book!

Lots of students live in my building and when there’s something they don’t need/want, they tend to leave it near the entrance for anyone to take. Put to good use, kind of thing… There’s where I found The sun also rises by Ernest Hemmingway!

Although I’ve got a BA degree in English Language and Culture, I haven’t read as much as I would’ve liked. That’s probably because I leaned on linguistics more than literature. Anyway! I’ve still got a life ahead of me to read!

I’ve heard so many good things about Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I’m definitely excited to give this one a read!

Cloud Atlas by David Mitchel has obviously been turned into a movie. I haven’t seen the movie or read the book before… I actually received this book in a book exchange! I was so happy to receive A book in the first place. I was even happier when I saw it was a book I’ve wanted to read!

The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon is a book I have never heard of. Much like Cloud Atlas I also received this one in a book exchange. I never thought that whole Facebook chain would actually work! I am so happy with the books I received and I only wish I could say thanks to these two people!

I read Fingersmith by Sarah Smith for a course I was following during my BA and absolutely loved it! Smith is known for writing neo-victorian novels, which are my favourite! I’m expecting good things from The Paying Guests.

I’ve heard good things about The Rosie Project so I’m actually expecting good things from The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion as well.
