You know that feeling you get when you’re at that point in life where everything is just spinning out of control? When you don’t know what to do because you can’t even remember what’s right and what’s left? Life’s struggles aren’t unfamiliar to anyone (except for babies) but at one point you feel as if you can’t take it anymore.
There is no denying it. Life is hard and sometimes it takes over. But it’s time to take control over life instead of the other way around.
There are many things that we obviously can’t control but there are ways to come back to the surface.
What I, personally, like to do is make lists. And a whole lot of them! Make lists of what to do everyday. Little things matter, like going to the supermarket or hanging out with a friend. Lists have the effect of adding clarity to our daily lives. Get a cute diary or white board and hang it over your desk or somewhere you’d see it often. If you have a diary, keep it open at your desk or wherever possible at all times. That way if you think of something you can jot it down immediately. Decorate your white board or diary, make it personal! Add pictures, quotes, colours, whatever you like! But be careful not to make it too chaotic because that will only make the lists unclear.
Accomplishing any little thing on your list will make you feel like you’re more in control of things and not to mention how satisfying checking things off your list is!
One thing that I tend to do, which you actually shouldn’t, is being “over ambitious” as someone once told me. Try to make daily to-do lists but realistically. It won’t do any good if you try to crop in too many things that you won’t get done.
Also, don’t forget to add fun things to your list! Like reading a favourite book or watching an episode from a series or hanging out with a friend! These things matter as well! Having “me-time” is so vital, it’s a shame that some people underestimate this. When you have “me-time”, you take time to do things you like and not be jumbled up in life’s daily struggles.
We all have a time in our lives where it just gets too much and all you want to do is take a nap instead. Luckily, these times won’t last forever.
Don’t forget to smile today!
